Online poker player sent to jail for threating support

News·

After a pretty threatening e-mail to the support of an online poker site, Englishman Michael Gallagher from East-Cleveland is sentenced to jail by a judge. The 35-year old lost around $25,000 in a years time and blamed the poker room. He emailed support and threatened them with some serious stuff:

“I hope you take me seriously because I swear to God I’m going to do it,” said Gallagher, only to continue: “I will have my vengeance. I have planned this for six months. It’s what makes me sleep at night. Drifting off to sleep, thinking about what I am going to do, knowing full well that the butchering I will do will get you exposed for what you are…I will gladly take a life sentence for that.”

“Believe me, it will be my finest hour…$50,000 in my account, or believe me, you will all be dead.”

The online poker room called the police quickly. Even more so because the threat came from an ip-adress that was pretty close the headquarters of the poker site. Although Gallagher apologised to the poker room the day after, he got arrested by the local police.

The maximum penalty for threats is 6 months and that’s exactly what Michael Gallagher got from the judge. Let it be a lesson guys: Before sending angry e-mails to support…think twice!
