UK Player announces massacre after $30,000 Loss

News·

According to Wikipedia “Tilt” is a poker term for a state of mental or emotional confusion or frustration in which a player adopts a less than optimal strategy, usually resulting in the player becoming over-aggressive.

Well, UK’s Michael Gallagher from Redcar, East Cleveland gave the term “Tilt” a new meaning when after a year of losses he sent an e-mail to the headquarters of the online poker room he played at announcing a very bloody feast. The 35 year old claimed he would visit the office with a sawn-off shotgun and shoot as many people possible, unless the poker room payed him $50K to cover his losses.

Gallagher woke up the next day to realize he was a bit out of line and sent a follow-up mail. He said he was drunk the day before when he sent the e-mail and apologized for the threats.

The online poker room was not convinced and went to the authorities. The police then paid a visit to Michael Gallagher’s house, and charged him for blackmailing. Adviced by his lawyer, the unlucky player pleaded guilty to “the offense of electronic communication conveying a threat”. The case is currently reviewed by a judge who needed more time to asses this serious matter.
